Alo is chef Patrick Kriss’s contemporary French tasting-menu restaurant, set on the third floor of a Victorian building at the corner of Spadina Avenue and Queen Street West, where downtown Toronto’s Chinatown meets the Queen West strip. Since opening in 2015, it has become one of the city’s most sought-after reservations, and it holds one Michelin star in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Canada.
Dinner in the main dining room is a blind, multi-course tasting menu built around peak-season ingredients. Guests learn each course only as it arrives, and an optional wine pairing accompanies the menu. The room is calm and softly lit, and the open kitchen lets you watch the brigade plate each course. Next door, the Parlour Room and barroom offer classically inspired cocktails and a shortened tasting menu, which is also available à la carte (Alo Food Group). Alo also has a private dining room for celebrations.
Visitor Highlights & Practical Info
Tables are released online through Alo’s website and fill quickly, so plan weeks ahead for anniversaries or Friday and Saturday nights. Weeknight seatings are easier to secure. The barroom is the best fallback for spontaneous visits. Allow about three hours for the full menu, and flag any dietary restrictions when you book. The 510 Spadina and 501 Queen streetcars stop at the corner. Kensington Market and the Art Gallery of Ontario are a short walk north for a pre-dinner stroll.
