Antioch

Antioch sits along the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta in the East Bay, offering a mix of water recreation and rugged open space. Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve spans more than 5,000 acres of hiking trails and historic coal mine tours, while nearby Mount Diablo’s summit delivers views stretching to San Francisco and the Pacific on clear days. The Antioch Marina serves boaters and anglers on the Delta, and Delta Discovery Cruises run year-round river tours through the region’s history. Downtown’s El Campanil Theatre, opened in 1928, still hosts live performances and films. Spring and fall bring the most comfortable temperatures for exploring the Delta waterways and dune trails at the Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge, home to rare native plants and birds.
