Chocolate Nation is a museum devoted to Belgian chocolate, set on Koningin Astridplein directly opposite Antwerpen-Centraal station. It opened in 2019 and bills itself as the largest Belgian chocolate museum in the world. Visitors come for a self-guided walk through cocoa’s journey from bean to bar, with tastings along the route.
The route runs through themed rooms that follow cocoa from plantations in equatorial regions, across shipping routes, and into Belgian production. An audio guide accompanies the walk, available in several languages. Multimedia installations explain fermentation, roasting, and conching, and a working demonstration area shows chocolatiers tempering and moulding by hand. Tasting stops appear throughout, with different origins and percentages to compare. The visit closes with a tasting session and a shop stocked with pralines and bars. Separate workshops let participants make their own chocolates under a chocolatier’s guidance, and they are popular with families and groups.
