Downtown Katameya is an open-air shopping and lifestyle center in New Cairo’s Fifth Settlement, built around 45,000 square meters of European-style plazas, green lawns, and a landscaped lake. Roughly 200 retail outlets line the outdoor walkways, mixing international and Egyptian brands with restaurants, cafes, and family-friendly hangout spots.
The center is designed for browsing rather than a single big-ticket attraction, so most visitors treat it as a relaxed evening out: strolling the lakeside promenade, grabbing dinner on one of the outdoor terraces, and popping into a handful of stores. Office towers surrounding the retail core also bring in a steady daytime crowd from nearby corporate tenants.
It works well as a stop after visiting other New Cairo attractions, and the mostly pedestrian, outdoor layout makes it a pleasant place to walk even in the evening once the Cairo heat has eased.
