Shedd Aquarium in Chicago is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 6pm, and most visitors spend three to four hours exploring its exhibits and shows.
Located on the shore of Lake Michigan, Shedd is one of the largest indoor aquariums in the world, home to belugas, dolphins, sharks, and thousands of aquatic species across immersive habitats recreating the Amazon, the Caribbean reef, and the Pacific Northwest coast.
Weekday mornings and early arrivals see the smallest crowds, with Sunday mornings typically the quietest time overall. Live animal presentations and behind-the-scenes encounters are popular add-ons for a longer visit.
