Tivoli Gardens is a historic amusement park in central Copenhagen that opened on August 15, 1843, making it the world’s second-oldest operating amusement park after Denmark’s Dyrehavsbakken. Founder Georg Carstensen built it on the city’s former southern ramparts, and its whimsical pavilions and gardens are widely credited with inspiring Walt Disney’s vision for Disneyland after he visited in 1951.

The park blends historic rides, formal gardens, and seasonal festivals — from summer concerts to elaborate Halloween and Christmas markets — with restaurants ranging from casual food stalls to fine dining. Entry tickets grant access to the gardens, performances, and most restaurants, while rides require a separate wristband or individual ride tickets.

Tivoli operates seasonally, with its main summer season running April through September and separate Halloween and Christmas openings in autumn and winter. It sits directly beside Copenhagen’s Central Station, making it an easy stop for a few hours or a full day of rides, gardens, and shows.
