For over five decades it was the tallest structure in Japan, until Tokyo Skytree surpassed it in 2012.
Visitors can ride elevators to two observation levels: the two-story Main Deck at 150 meters and the smaller, higher Top Deck at nearly 250 meters, both offering panoramic views that stretch to Mount Fuji on clear days. On weekends and holidays, an internal stairwell of roughly 660 steps offers an alternative route up to the Main Deck for visitors who want to climb rather than ride.
Tokyo Tower is illuminated nightly and remains a popular photo backdrop from the surrounding Shiba Park and Zōjō-ji Temple grounds. Tickets can be purchased on-site or in advance to skip the queue, and clear mornings offer the best long-distance visibility from the observation decks.
