Oliwski Park (Oliwa Park) grew out of a Cistercian monastery garden dating to the 15th century and is regarded as Gdansk’s most beautiful green space. Its centerpiece is a formal Baroque French garden, with geometric flower beds and clipped shrubs framed by twin rows of lime trees along Aleja Lipowa.
A free glass Palm House shelters tropical plants during the summer months, and the park’s “Whispering Caves” near the Abbot’s Palace let two people carry on a whispered conversation from opposite ends. Oliwa Cathedral sits just next door, making the two an easy combined stop.
The park is free to enter and open from dawn until late evening every day, and it’s reachable by tram or SKM train to the Oliwa district.
