Peg Leg Pete’s is a pirate-themed oyster bar and seafood restaurant at 1010 Fort Pickens Road on Pensacola Beach. Since 1988 it has drawn families and shellfish fans with Gulf seafood at fair prices, a raw bar, and a sandy play area that keeps kids busy while adults finish their oysters.
Oysters are the main event. Order them raw by the dozen or baked, with the Oysters Rockefeller and the cheddar-and-jalapeño version among the most popular choices. The broader menu covers stuffed shrimp, snow crab legs, grouper and mahi-mahi plates, and hearty salads topped with grilled or fried seafood. Inside, the rooms are cluttered with weathered wood and pirate décor, and the upstairs bar opens onto a breezy deck. Out back, Lafitte Cove Marina lets boaters tie up and walk straight in.
Visitor Highlights & Practical Info
The restaurant opens daily at 11 a.m. and seats guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Waits often run past an hour on summer evenings, spring-break weeks, and holiday weekends. To avoid the longest lines, arrive at opening or come mid-afternoon between 2 and 4 p.m. Fall and winter bring shorter waits and the same menu. Parking fills quickly, so consider biking or taking the free seasonal beach trolley from Casino Beach. Afterward, drive a few minutes west to Fort Pickens and the Gulf Islands National Seashore for sunset.
