Centro Vasco da Gama is a shopping mall in Lisbon’s Parque das Nacoes district, named for the Portuguese explorer and built for the 1998 World Expo with ship-like architecture and nautical motifs that echo Portugal’s seafaring history.
The mall houses over 170 stores, including international brands like Zara, H&M, Bershka, and Lacoste alongside Portuguese shops, and its food court serves more than 30 restaurants ranging from sushi and seafood to international cuisine. A distinctive glass roof with a cascading water sheet floods the space with natural light above wood-plank flooring reminiscent of a ship’s deck.
It’s easily reached via the Oriente train and metro station, offers 2,600 parking spaces and free stroller rentals, and most visitors spend 2 to 3 hours here shopping, eating, and catching a movie at the on-site cinema.
