Maurice A. Ferré Park is downtown Miami’s largest waterfront green space, roughly 30 acres of lawns and baywalk along Biscayne Bay at 1075 Biscayne Blvd. It opened in 1976 as Bicentennial Park, was later known as Museum Park, and in 2019 took the name of Maurice A. Ferré, Miami’s first Hispanic mayor (ParkMagnet). Locals and visitors come for open bay views, free admission, and two major museums on its grounds.
The Pérez Art Museum Miami, with its hanging gardens and shaded veranda, anchors the park beside the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science (Bayfront Park Management Trust). Between them, wide lawns host festivals and concerts, a playground draws families, and a strip of sand along the water invites barefoot sunset watching. Cruise ships and the Port of Miami frame the view across the bay. The park is managed as an extension of Bayfront Park, whose amphitheater sits to the south.
Visitor Highlights & Practical Info
Arrive early morning or late afternoon to avoid midday heat, especially from June through September. Winter brings the most comfortable weather and the heaviest event calendar, so check the Bayfront Park Trust schedule before visiting. Take the free Metromover to Museum Park station to skip parking costs. Pair your visit with lunch at PAMM’s restaurant or a game at the nearby Kaseya Center.
