Teatro alla Scala is Milan’s legendary opera house, opened in 1778, considered one of the world’s leading venues for opera and ballet performances.
The adjoining Museo Teatrale alla Scala displays costumes, instruments, and memorabilia spanning the theater’s history, and when no rehearsal is underway, ticket holders can view the auditorium from a private box.
The museum is open daily from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with last entry at 5 PM; it closes on major holidays including January 1, Easter, and December 25-26. Plan for about an hour.
