Ugong Rock Adventures is a community-run limestone climb and zipline in Barangay Tagabinet, about 1.5 hours north of Puerto Princesa city proper on the road to Sabang and the Underground River. Visitors climb through the inside of a karst outcrop, reach the summit, and ride a zipline back down. It draws travelers who want a physical half-day stop between the city and the Underground River (City Tourism of Puerto Princesa).
The name comes from the Filipino word for echo or hum. Guides tap the rock’s hollow formations to make them ring, and the sound carries through the cave chambers. The route starts with spelunking through narrow passages, then moves to rope-assisted scrambles up the limestone, with stalactites and fossilized coral along the way. From the top, you look out over karst peaks and the rice paddies of Tagabinet before riding the zipline down. The site is operated as a community-based sustainable tourism (CBST) project, and Tripadvisor reviewers describe tours that also include a small butterfly garden and cultural demonstrations by Indigenous Palawan residents (Tripadvisor).
Visitor Highlights & Practical Info
Arrive in the early morning or mid-afternoon. Late-morning tour vans heading to the Underground River fill the queue. The dry months of November through May offer the safest footing, while rain makes the rocks slick. Wear closed shoes and leave bags in the van. Many Sabang tour packages include this stop, so ask your operator when booking. Independent travelers can check current schedules through the official Ugong Rock Adventures CBST Facebook page.
