The Big Buddha of Phuket is a 45-metre marble-clad statue perched on Nakkerd Hill above Chalong, one of the tallest Buddha images in Thailand. The site reopened in March 2026 after a temporary closure, and the hilltop platform offers sweeping views over Phuket’s south coast.
Entry is free, though donations toward the temple’s upkeep are welcome. Shoulders and knees must be covered; sarongs are available at the entrance for visitors who need them.
The site is typically open from around 6:00 AM to 7:30 PM daily. Early morning or late afternoon visits avoid the midday heat and crowds, and the access road can be affected by heavy rain during the May-October monsoon season.
