The Ferry Building has anchored San Francisco’s waterfront since 1898, its clock tower modeled on Seville’s 12th-century Giralda bell tower. Inside, the Marketplace houses close to 50 local food merchants, restaurants, and small eateries along the Nave, the building’s grand central hall.
Stalls sell wine, cheese, seafood, baked goods, and specialty groceries from Northern California producers, and the building is open seven days a week. Thursdays and Saturdays add an outdoor farmers market and street food, with Saturday widely considered the best day for the full market experience.
The Embarcadero location is easy to reach by BART, Muni, the F Market streetcar, ferry, or bike, with racks in front of and behind the building.
