Monopoly in the Park is a 930-square-foot permanent granite Monopoly board set into Discovery Meadow in downtown San Jose, beside the Children’s Discovery Museum. It is the only officially licensed permanent giant Monopoly board recognized by Guinness World Records, and families, photographers, and fans of the board game come here to stand on Boardwalk themselves (Visit San Jose).
The board’s colored property squares, Chance and Community Chest spaces, and corner tiles are laid out on the lawn at walking scale, so a single square can fit a whole family for a photo. Animal statues and benches nearby add more options for photos and give parents a place to sit. The nonprofit Friends of San Jose, formed in 1994, operates and maintains the board (Monopoly in the Park). It also organizes full games played with oversized props for groups, parties, and corporate events.

Casual visitors can walk the board for free. To play a full game, book through the official website well ahead of time, especially for weekends from spring through fall. Weekday mornings are the quietest. Late afternoon gives the softest light on the granite. The board sits on a lawn, so wear flat shoes and bring sun protection in summer. VTA light rail’s Children’s Discovery Museum station is a short walk away. Pair your visit with the museum, the Guadalupe River Park trail, or the restaurants along San Carlos Street.
