Lyon Air Museum occupies a hangar on the west side of John Wayne Airport at 19300 Ike Jones Rd in Santa Ana, where World War II–era aircraft, military vehicles, vintage automobiles and motorcycles share one floor. The museum preserves aviation and twentieth-century history, and aviation fans, history readers and families come to stand inches from machines that shaped the 1940s (AeroVia).
Polished warbirds sit wingtip to wingtip with restored cars, military jeeps and period motorcycles. Display cases of uniforms, documents and memorabilia add context. Visitors can explore aircraft up close, sit in some cockpits and climb into some of the jeeps (Loc8NearMe). Volunteer docents lead tours and share the stories behind the collection. Through the hangar doors, you can watch commercial jets take off and land at John Wayne Airport. After hours, the hangar becomes a banquet and event venue for weddings, galas and corporate dinners.
