Sintra-Cascais Natural Park is a protected coastal and mountain landscape west of Lisbon, spanning the Serra de Sintra and the Atlantic coastline down to Cascais.
Established to safeguard the region’s rare microclimate, the park is home to lush forests, dramatic cliffs, and rare flora and fauna found nowhere else in Portugal, alongside historic sites such as Sintra’s palaces and Cabo da Roca, continental Europe’s westernmost point.
Reachable from Lisbon by train or bus in under an hour, the park rewards a full day of exploring, from hiking wooded trails and cycling coastal paths to visiting individual sites such as Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira, each of which keeps its own separate hours and admission fees.
