Niro Apart Hotel is a compact apartment hotel at Mariebergsgatan 26 on Kungsholmen, the residential island west of Stockholm’s old town. It bills itself as the city’s first semi- to fully underground apartment hotel, and it attracts travelers who want a quiet, self-catering base at a lower price than central hotels.
The owners make sleep their top priority and say plainly that the hotel is “not a place for party people.” Because the studios sit partly or fully below street level, they are dim and hushed, which suits jet-lagged guests. Each studio has a sofa and a kitchenette with hotplates, pots and pans, a microwave, plates and cutlery. There is no oven. A dining table seats up to four.
Each room also has its own Wi-Fi network and a TV with Chromecast and satellite channels. Bathrooms have walk-in showers, and the studios include a fridge, ironing facilities and coffee- and tea-making equipment.
Visitor Highlights & Practical Info
Book early for June through August, when Stockholm’s rates peak. Families should request an extra bed when they book, because the hotel provides them only when available.
Fridhemsplan metro station, served by the green and blue lines, is a short walk away. The Rålambshovsparken lawns and the Norr Mälarstrand waterfront promenade are also nearby. Central Stockholm is about a 25-minute walk. Guests who prefer daylight-filled rooms should consider the below-grade layout before booking.
