Cornish Pasty Co. is the original Tempe outpost of a Cornish-owned pub chain that has baked hand-crimped pasties in the Valley since 2005 (Cornish Pasty Co.). It sits at 960 W University Dr, just west of Arizona State University’s main campus. Diners come for the flaky, oversized pasties, the dim pub atmosphere, and one of the area’s most reliable vegan menus.
Inside, the room is dark and cozy, with snug booths and a full bar. The house favorite is the traditional “Oggie,” filled with steak, potato, onion and rutabaga and made with original Cornish ingredients (Downtown Phoenix). Beyond the Oggie, the long menu runs from British pub staples to globally inspired fillings, along with soups, salads and desserts. It also includes a dedicated lineup of vegan and vegetarian pasties. Most pasties are big enough to share, and gravy or red-wine sauce on the side is standard practice. The bar pours a mix of local and international beers.
