The Historic Brookstown Inn occupies an 1837 textile mill at 200 Brookstown Avenue, on the edge of downtown Winston-Salem and steps from the Old Salem historic district. Guests come for rooms with exposed brick and timber beams, evening wine, and one of the city’s most popular wedding settings.
The building began as the Salem Cotton Manufacturing Company and later operated as Arista Mill. Its conversion into an inn kept the industrial bones: thick brick walls, heavy wooden beams, tall windows, and wide-plank floors. Look for the preserved inscriptions left by 19th-century mill workers on the walls. Rooms mix period-style furnishings with practical comforts such as microwaves and mini-fridges, and loft-style layouts appear in some suites. Daily breakfast is included, along with an evening wine reception and cookies. The brick courtyard and restored interior spaces host ceremonies, receptions, and corporate meetings throughout the year.
