Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta is open 365 days a year, typically 9 AM to 6 PM Monday-Thursday and 9 AM to 8 or 9 PM on weekends, with entry ending 30 minutes before close. It’s one of the largest aquariums in the world and home to whale sharks, one of only a handful of aquariums outside Asia to house them.
The Ocean Voyager gallery is the aquarium’s centerpiece, featuring a massive viewing window and an underwater tunnel where whale sharks and manta rays swim overhead. Dolphin Coast and Sea Lion Studios host included live presentations, and the newer Sharks! Predators of the Deep gallery showcases large predatory fish.
Most visitors spend 3-4 hours seeing the main galleries, or 5-6 hours for a full day including shows and interactive encounters. Weekdays, especially Monday through Thursday, are noticeably quieter than weekends and holidays.
