Usina del Arte is a cultural center in Buenos Aires’s La Boca neighborhood, housed inside a striking former power plant built in 1916 by Italian architect Juan Chiogna for the Italian-Argentine Electricity Company.
The building was converted into a cultural venue in 2012 as part of a major regeneration project inspired by adaptive-reuse landmarks like New York’s Park Avenue Armory and Berlin’s Radial System. Today it holds a 1,200-seat symphony hall with notable acoustics, along with additional spaces used for dance performances and art exhibitions.
Regular hours run Tuesday through Thursday from 2 to 7 PM, Friday from noon to 9 PM, and weekends and holidays from 10 AM to 9 PM; it’s closed Mondays. Free guided tours run on weekends and holidays from 2 to 5 PM.
