Neptune’s Fountain is a Renaissance-Baroque bronze statue of the god of the sea, standing at the heart of Gdansk’s Dlugi Targ (Long Market) since 1633.
Designed by Abraham van den Blocke and cast between 1612 and 1615, the fountain was championed by Mayor Bartlomiej Schachmann as a symbol of Gdansk’s deep ties to the sea. Hidden during World War II, it was restored to its place in 1954 and given a full conservation in 2011-2012.
The fountain sits in an open public square and is free to view at any time; most visitors spend just 10 to 20 minutes here as part of a longer walk through the Long Market and Old Town.
