Amar Jawan Jyoti in Jaipur is an open-air war memorial on Jan Path in the Lalkothi area, directly opposite the Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha (State Legislative Assembly). It honours soldiers from Rajasthan who died defending India, including in the Indo-Pakistani wars. Locals and travellers come here to pay respects at its eternal flame and to walk its landscaped grounds in the cool of the evening.
The centrepiece is a raised memorial structure with a continuously burning flame, set within manicured lawns, paved walkways and fountains. Memorial walls carry tributes to fallen soldiers, giving the site a quiet, reflective focus despite its location on one of the city’s main roads. After sunset, floodlights illuminate the monument and the Vidhan Sabha across the road. The grounds then draw families, couples and photographers, and the atmosphere shifts from solemn to gently social. Visitors are expected to behave respectfully near the flame. On national occasions such as Republic Day, Independence Day and Vijay Diwas (16 December), the memorial hosts wreath-laying ceremonies.
Visitor Highlights & Practical Info
Entry has generally been free, with no booking required. Plan for 30–45 minutes. Early mornings are the calmest time to visit. Evenings, especially weekends and holidays, bring the biggest crowds and the best lighting. October to March offers the most comfortable weather, while summer afternoons are harsh. Auto-rickshaws and app cabs reach Jan Path easily. You can pair the visit with Statue Circle and Central Park, both a short drive away. Confirm hours locally before going, since access can change during official events.
