Mercado de Artesanías La Ciudadela is one of Mexico City’s largest and best-known crafts markets, located in the Ciudadela complex in the Cuauhtémoc district. Hundreds of stalls sell handicrafts from across Mexico, including textiles, pottery, silver jewelry, leather goods, papier-mâché, and folk art.
Because vendors come from many different regions and traditions, the market is a good one-stop option for souvenir shopping or for seeing a broad cross-section of Mexican craft styles in a single visit, from Oaxacan alebrijes to Talavera ceramics. Prices are often negotiable, and quality varies by stall.
The market is generally open daily, with slightly shorter hours on Sundays; individual vendor hours can vary.
