Tonnarello is a busy, no-reservations trattoria in Rome’s Trastevere neighborhood, open daily from 11am to 11pm without a midday break. It’s best known for tableside cacio e pepe made in a hollowed wheel of pecorino, along with classic carbonara, amatriciana, and generous Roman-style portions.
Because it doesn’t take phone or email bookings, the only way to get a table is to line up in person — the restaurant spreads across five dining rooms to handle the crowds, and staff move quickly once you’re seated.
To minimize the wait, arrive before 12pm for lunch or before 7pm for dinner; later slots routinely draw long queues down Via della Paglia.
