Chihuly Garden and Glass is a long-term exhibition of Dale Chihuly’s studio glass at 305 Harrison Street in Seattle Center, directly beneath the Space Needle. Opened in 2012, it shows the Tacoma-born artist’s career across indoor galleries, a towering glass conservatory, and an outdoor garden. Many visitors leave counting it among the most memorable art experiences in the city.
The route moves through eight galleries and a theater. Highlights include the Persian Ceiling, where daylight filters through stacked glass forms overhead. In Mille Fiori, a garden of blown glass is staged on a dark mirrored base. The Sealife Room features a cobalt tower of sea creatures. The 40-foot Glasshouse frames a 100-foot suspended sculpture in reds, oranges, and yellows, with the Space Needle rising beyond its panes. Outside, glass forms grow among real plantings. At the Collections Café, Chihuly’s personal hoards of accordions, radios, and bottle openers line the tables (Chihuly Garden and Glass).
