Seattle Center is a 74-acre civic and cultural campus in downtown Seattle, built for the 1962 World’s Fair and now home to more than 30 organizations including the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, the Museum of Pop Culture, Pacific Science Center, and Climate Pledge Arena. The open campus grounds themselves are free to walk and are used for festivals, fountains, and public art throughout the year.

Individual attractions on the campus set their own hours and admission fees rather than sharing a single schedule — the Space Needle, for example, typically opens by mid-morning and stays open into the evening, with hours shifting by season and day of week. Because of this, it’s best to check each venue’s own listing before visiting rather than assuming one set of “Seattle Center hours” applies campus-wide.

The International Fountain at the heart of the campus runs choreographed water shows on a set schedule and is a popular free stop, while the surrounding lawns host farmers markets, concerts, and Seattle’s annual Bumbershoot and Folklife festivals. Most first-time visitors pair a Space Needle visit with a stroll through the rest of the grounds.
