Steirereck occupies a former dairy pavilion in Vienna’s Stadtpark, beside the Wien River, and holds three stars in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Austria. Chef Heinz Reitbauer leads the kitchen, and diners book months ahead for his precise, ingredient-driven take on contemporary Austrian cuisine.
Reitbauer builds menus around produce from regional growers and the family’s own farm in Styria. His char cooked tableside in hot beeswax has become the restaurant’s signature dish. A bread trolley rolls past with dozens of house-baked loaves. The wine cellar holds over 30,000 bottles. The dining room is glass-walled and looks out over the park’s trees, and its mirrored steel extension reflects the greenery outside. White-gloved staff keep the service formal but warm, matching the house’s aim to stay “at its heart still just an Austrian inn” (Steirereck).
