Royal Łazienki Park is the largest park in central Warsaw, a 76-hectare former royal summer retreat built around the neoclassical Palace on the Isle, which sits on an artificial lake and preserves its original 18th-century interiors, including the Solomon Room and the King’s private apartments. Peacocks and swans roam freely across the English-style landscape gardens, and visitors can also explore the Old Orangery with its Royal Sculpture Gallery, the historic Royal Theatre, the Chinese and Romantic Gardens, and the Fryderyk Chopin Monument.
The grounds are open daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and free to enter, though the Palace on the Isle and other museum buildings inside the park charge separate admission and keep their own hours. The most popular time to visit is Sunday between May and September, when free open-air Chopin piano concerts draw crowds to the monument at noon and 4 p.m.
Spring and summer are the best seasons, when the gardens are in full bloom and outdoor concerts are underway, though autumn brings striking foliage across the park’s tree-lined avenues. Most visitors spend two to three hours exploring the grounds, longer if they add a palace tour.
