SkyView Atlanta is a nearly 200-foot observation wheel at the corner of Luckie Street and Centennial Olympic Park, rising about 20 stories over downtown Atlanta. Since opening in 2013, it has become one of the city’s most recognizable skyline features, and visitors come for some of the widest open-air-free views in the urban core.
Riders board one of 42 climate-controlled gondolas, a real advantage during Atlanta’s humid summers and chilly winter evenings. A typical ride lasts around 15 minutes and includes several full rotations. From the top, you can trace the green lawns of Centennial Olympic Park, the Midtown and downtown towers, the swooping roof of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and the neighboring Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola. A single VIP gondola adds leather seats, a glass floor, and a longer ride, which makes it a popular choice for proposals and anniversaries. After dark, the wheel’s LED lighting turns it into a downtown landmark.
Visitor Highlights & Practical Info
Weekday afternoons usually bring the shortest lines. Weekends, summer, and nights with games or concerts at nearby venues draw the biggest crowds. Sunset rides offer the best light for photos. Buy tickets in advance through the official SkyView site, and check posted hours before you go, since schedules change by season and for private events. MARTA’s Peachtree Center station is a short walk away, and paid parking decks surround the park. You can easily pair a ride with the aquarium or the College Football Hall of Fame on the same day.
