Tanah Lot is a Hindu sea temple perched on a rock formation just off Bali’s southwestern coast, one of the island’s most photographed sites and especially famous for its sunset views. The temple complex is open daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with last entry about 30 minutes before closing.
Entrance fees are tiered: international adults pay around IDR 75,000 and children IDR 40,000, while Indonesian visitors pay IDR 30,000 (adults) and IDR 20,000 (children). Sunset, typically between 5:45 PM and 6:30 PM depending on the season, is the peak viewing window and draws heavy crowds — arriving by 4:30–5:00 PM secures a good vantage point before it fills in. Visitors wanting a quieter, more contemplative visit should aim for midday, roughly 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, when the site is far less crowded.
At low tide, visitors can walk across the sand to the base of the temple rock, though the inner sanctum itself is reserved for worshippers.
