Garden of the Gods is a free, 1,805-acre city park and National Natural Landmark in Colorado Springs, known for its towering red sandstone rock formations set against a backdrop of Pikes Peak.
The park’s Visitor & Nature Center offers exhibits on the formations’ geology, a short introductory film, a café, and a gift shop, all free to enter. Miles of trails wind among the rocks for hiking, rock climbing, and horseback riding, with paved paths suitable for wheelchairs and strollers near the main formations.
The park grounds are open daily from early morning to late evening, while the Visitor & Nature Center keeps shorter daytime hours; arriving early or late in the day helps avoid the busiest crowds.
