St Stephen’s Green is a 22-acre Victorian public park in the heart of Dublin, bordered by Grafton Street and some of the city’s grandest Georgian architecture.
Laid out in its current form in 1880 after philanthropist Arthur Guinness funded its redesign, the park features ornamental lakes, a garden for the visually impaired, a Victorian bandstand, and memorials including the 1916 Easter Rising garden and a bust of James Joyce.
Managed by Ireland’s Office of Public Works, the Green is free to enter every day of the year, opening around 7:30 a.m. on weekdays and 9:30 a.m. on Sundays and bank holidays, with closing times shifting seasonally from about 4:30 p.m. in winter to 9:30 p.m. in midsummer.
