The London Dungeon packs a thousand years of the capital’s grisliest history into a theatrical, walk-through scare attraction inside County Hall on the South Bank, right beside the London Eye. Live actors, special effects and two rides turn plague, murder and treason into a loud, darkly funny experience that draws thrill-seekers, history fans and big groups.
Visitors move in small groups through a sequence of 16 immersive shows. Costumed performers pull guests into the action, with plague doctors, Guy Fawkes’s gunpowder plot, Sweeney Todd’s barber chair and the Whitechapel streets of Jack the Ripper. The Tyrant Boat Ride drifts through Henry VIII’s Thames-side cruelty, and the Drop Dead ride ends the tour with a sudden vertical plunge.
