The Jardins do Palácio de Cristal are a free public garden set on a hillside above the Douro River in central Porto, laid out around a dome-shaped sports pavilion that replaced the original 19th-century Crystal Palace.
Paths lined with camellias, fountains, and sculptures lead to viewpoints overlooking the river, its bridges, and the Atlantic beyond, and the grounds are also home to peacocks that wander freely.
The gardens open at 8am daily, closing at 7pm from October through March and at 9pm from April through September, with free admission year-round.
